Basketball betting: spreads, totals and overtime

Basketball betting revolves around points: who wins, by how many, and how many points are scored in total. Which leagues and markets Doxxbet offers is shown in its betting section. This guide explains the markets and how they meet the conditions of betting promotions.

Overtime and settlement

In many basketball markets the result includes overtime; in others — especially 1X2-style markets with a draw option — only regulation time counts. A bet that looks won after 40 or 48 minutes can be lost in overtime, or the reverse. The market name and the settlement rules tell you which applies.

Spreads suit minimum-odds rules

Moneyline favourites in basketball are often priced very short, below typical bonus minimums. Spread and total markets are usually priced near even money, around 1.85 to 1.95. Illustrative example, not a Doxxbet term. A bonus with minimum odds of 1.80 would ignore a €20 bet on a 1.20 favourite but count a €20 bet on the same team's −6.5 spread at 1.90. That is useful to know — as long as you would actually want the spread bet.

Free bets and boosted odds

A free bet on a near-even spread returns roughly the stake as profit if it wins. Boosted odds on a game winner usually come with a small maximum stake. Check the expiry date: free bets on a league's regular-season game may lapse before the next round.

Pace and volume

With many games each week and quarter markets in play, basketball offers a lot of betting volume. That suits a wagering requirement and can also stretch a budget. Decide a weekly stake and keep to it; in Slovakia, the RVO self-exclusion register and the help line 0800 131 000 are there if betting stops being fun.

Frequently asked questions

Does overtime count in basketball bets?
In many markets, such as moneyline and spreads, yes; in markets with a draw option often only regulation time counts. Check the market's rules.
Why do spreads fit betting bonuses?
Spreads and totals are usually priced near even money, so they often meet bonus minimum odds that short favourites do not.
What is a point spread?
A points handicap: the favourite must win by more than the spread, the underdog must lose by less or win.
